On Wednesday, August 8, LPS will host its 3rd annual Lawrence Learns Block Party for our new to LPS PK and K students and families. We anticipate roughly 1,0000 individuals taking part, and are seeking 50 volunteers to ensure they have a terrific experience. New this year to the event will be a Giant Slide for children, oversized Connect4 game and an inflatable bowling game. These will join past games, school readiness activities, the chance to meet with schools and learn about community resources, and a cook out. Like last year, our guests of honor, the new PK and K students, will each leave with a backpack full of school supplies.

Please consider being a volunteer and, if so inclined, use this link to sign up. The link includes opportunities to prioritize the ways you might like to help. While the event runs from 5:00-7:30pm, volunteers are typically needed from 4:00pm/4:30pm until we close up.  Volunteers receive a free event t-shirt, snacks, and instructions in advance about your role, as well as an invitation to an optional volunteer orientation.
